MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III said he will no longer entertain suggestions to reschedule his much-anticipated ring match with Davao City acting Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, who failed to show up at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Sunday.

“I think so [I will no longer entertain him], marami akong ibang trabaho (I have other work to do), and this is not worth responding to,” Torre said, after being declared winner by default due to Duterte’s absence.

Torre acknowledged the time and effort put in by himself and others in organizing the charity event.

“I don’t think he is worth responding to at this point in time. Let’s leave him be in his world,” he added.

Challenge Conditions

Duterte, in a teaser clip from his “Basta Dabawenyo Podcast” released Friday, said he would only agree to the match if Torre could convince President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to order a hair follicle drug test for all elected government officials.

A day later, Duterte released the full episode, expressing his willingness to fight Torre on Tuesday, Wednesday, or any other day, suggesting flexibility despite his earlier conditions.

For a Cause

Despite the no-show, Torre announced that the event succeeded in raising over ₱16 million, which will be used to provide assistance to flood victims.
