MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening the capabilities of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), vowing to provide adequate training, equipment, and infrastructure to enable the service to fulfill its mandate effectively.

Speaking at the celebration of the PAF’s 78th founding anniversary, Marcos highlighted ongoing efforts to modernize the Air Force and support its growing role in national defense and disaster response.

“The government will exert all efforts to provide the Philippine Air Force with the best possible equipment, training, and facilities,” Marcos said during the event. “We remain relentless in ensuring that support will continue… so our troops are empowered to fulfill their duties and serve the country with excellence.”

Marcos noted the PAF’s recent progress, including the acquisition of six new aircraft, advanced simulation training, and the completion of key infrastructure projects to improve air operations. He also lauded the service’s readiness and performance in responding to both national security threats and natural disasters.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I know that whenever the mission calls, the Philippine Air Force answers. Time and again, you put your life on the line for the sake of our people,” he added.

Over the past year, the PAF logged more than 1,000 flying hours conducting air and maritime patrols over strategic locations including the West Philippine Sea, Philippine Rise, and other key points. The service also conducted 95 maritime patrol flights and tracked nearly 12,000 foreign vessels in Philippine waters.

The PAF’s 78th anniversary, celebrated under the theme “Focus PAF @ 78: Advancing Air Power by Committing to Mission, Strengthening Capabilities and Championing Core Values,” features a series of activities including mall exhibits, coastal medical missions, youth leadership summits, and a painting competition.
